We had guests after all the church was over on Saturday night and Sunday morning. The keeper didn't get home from the Cathedral until 12:30 on Sunday morning and got back into her car at 8 am for more. She said it was all beautiful and she ran into lots of old friends there. But the most frustrating part of the Sunday experience was that the Cabrini Garage got stuck in excruciating gridlock after the 10 am Mass as 12 noon worshippers were trying to get in and 10 am worshippers were trying to leave. The keeper finally moved back into the spot she was trying to leave, and walked to Starbucks to wait till the mayhem subsided. It did, and at about 12:30, the clog was cleared, and she headed to the freeway which was crawling with people who don't drive very often--they drove very slowly and cautiously. It was worse when she got off and tried the side streets--lots of ladies in hats driving sensible cars very slowly.
We had a great dinner and I got to eat prime rib off of the kitchen rug. I didn't know food could taste that good. It didn't come out of a can. The easter bunny had left gifts for them all, but not for me. But after they all went home, the keeper and I sprawled on the den couch and read the paper and listened to beautiful music. Sigh. The Easter Bunny couldn't have brought me anything nicer.
Happy Easter!
