Moonrise with Smoke

The smoke from Eastern Washington cast
a bruised filter on the half moon tonight.

We Once Were Giants

Not long ago some neighbors down the hill had to cut down some trees.
The large stump in the center is at least 5 feet in diameter, and could seat at least 6 people
for a forest dinner.  We wonder how old this tree was.

At the Hunthausen Dinner

She didn't come home till later.
She had gone to a dinner to raise funds for the Cathedral Kitchen
which feeds 100's of people each week.
It was at a CC in Bellevie.

The food was very fine, as was the company at her table and many other tables.

They did not get the trip to Rio, though.
Perhaps a villa in Tuscany will be better anyway.

Sunday night dinner and book

We had a very social weekend.
And we were able to be out on the deck wearing red bows for a lot of the weekend,
providing entertainment for guests.
But Sunday eve we just sat with the keeper as
she finished leftovers and finished one book and started another.

The moon was pretty impressive too.
But it looked more like a crescent in real time.

Green Afternoon on Capitol Hill

The keeper came home strangely centered and calm.
It seems that she ad her group of valorous women
had themselves a little retreat on Capitol Hill.
She did a bit of walking through the shady green streets.

"and the Livin' is easy..."

Oliver and I have a very good life and feel compelled to share our wealth.
That's why we are permitting our keeper to share out bed with us each night.
She seems to think it is the other way around, though.

Our Keeper Sometimes is a Lady Who Lunches

We ate early--the usual.  She ate at a decent hour on the lawn
under an umbrella. And no, it wasn't at the Sand Point CC!

Eclipse Evening Camino

Tonight was a lovely evening  for a camino, post-eclipse.

What Did the Eclipse Look Like?

The big box reflected this partial eclipse.

The glasses over the camera reflected this view.

This view bounced off the roof of the Village Spirit Center.

And the colander reflected the eclipse in
dozens onto the pavement.

Eclipse Morning

This morning she left us and told us not to look up at this sun this morning.
Something about an eclipse.  She said she wasn't too excited about it and had lots to do at the office today, so we shouldn't worry about her looking a the sun.
But come to find out,  she got into it once she ran into her
colleagues with all sorts of viewing devices.

There was the big box,

the homemade set of glasses,

the official glasses,

and many with camera and glasses

We are feeling better now

The hot weather and the trauma of shots at the vet are now behind us.
We finally started , we have stopped growling at each other, and have begun to play and tear through the house.
The keeper seems very relieved.

Tuesday Eve Camino

First, we would like to talk about us.
It is finally cooler and we are eating again.
Our digestive systems seem to be getting back on track.
Yje keeper seems quite happy about this.

So to celebrate she took a long walk tonight after playing with us a bit, not a lot, though.

She traveled through Sheridan Heights,
but we think the first shot looks like Oahu on the North Shore.

The mountain finally glimmered in the setting sun.

The Onshore Flow Effect

Lucy:  I moved my sleeping spot from under the ceiling fan
to the keeper's lap and then to her chair.

Pomadoro

They headed to Pomodoro to continue the reunion.
Their favorite waitperson was visiting from Tennessee
for the month and working
while she is visiting.

Shibonga!! A Toast to Jack!

She left us in the house as soon as she returned us
from the vet and ran out to Calvary
to meet her friends.
They were toasting Jack whose birthday into this life is Monday.

The monuments were helpful for selfie posing.

Morning Camino to the Vet and Flowers

We spent the day at the vet--for observation, they said.
We spent the day sleeping in cat cages while they watched us.
Lucy: There was nothing new wrong with me other than my weight issues.
Oliver: We thought  it was an abcess.  It wasn't. It was something more unpleasant.
They also think I have a touch of pneumonia.  So I was given a big antibiotic shot.
Meanwhile the keeper went out for a nice walk in the cooler weather
and admired everyone else's flowers since ours are dried out.

Animal Sick Bay

So much for thinking we are all done at the vet.
The keeper discovered the abscess on my tail area tonight.
It has nothing to do with the previous vet visits.
I am not telling how I got it either.
But I bet we will go back tomorrow.

Lucy is having her own issues.
She has lost her appetitie.
Could be  a reaction to the shots or to this heat!

Lunching at Leschi

Having a work lunch down at Leschi was offered a
lovely somewhat smoky view and a flavorful first day back.

Last Day of the Stay-cation

Reading Week is now coming to an end.
Tally: 5 books--only one on spirituality
0 movies
0 TV
Lots:  dinners and lunches with friends

We did other things too, like letting the keeper squash
us in our carriers so we could visit the vet. Rah!

We had  the house painted, a new fence  being built,
lots of pruning and a landscape consult.
The side yard just  became 10 feet wider after J pruned.

Meanwhile, we were overseen by a rather large bird who held court at the top of the tagged
