Brilliant Fierce Worship Partners

At this point in the life of the Church,
we need brilliant, fierce movers and shakers
who aren't afraid to call for courageous change.

Camino into fall

A walk the other evening showed signs
of summer's demise.

But also  was an opportunity to peer into neighbors' hidden gardens.

Hunthausen Auction and Dinner

Last night we ate very late again.
She is back to her old routines.
This time she was out raising money for the Cathedral Kitchen.

The Kind of Day it Was

A great day for a walk with a jacket on.
And the weather was...mist-haze-smoke-y.

Neighbors also farming

It seems every yard is growing something.
Most of them did their own planting.

But we think the squirrels helped out in a few others.

Porgy and Bess

She didn't get home til very late.
They switched their opera tickets to Friday so they could celebrate Leonard
Bernstein on Saturday night.

So they started with dinner at Bahn Thai,
headed to the pre-opera talk
all before the curtain lifted.
What a production! They were very close to the action.
After, they stayed for the post-opera discussion with Sportin' Life and Porgy.

Small Batch Farming!

So far our attempts at agriculture
have yielded
some great looking tomatoes, little red peppers,
basil,
and a squash of some kind which
one of the squirrels may have planted for us in the newly landscaped front yard!

Sun and Sunflowers in the smoke

The sun setting in the haze is eery this week.

The sunflowers on the  east of the RCC are much more visible than the sun!

Lucy in Paradise

Lucy had a great vacation week last week.
Oliver was recovering from dental surgery in the house.
So Lucy lorded it over the back yard.
She got so much exercise she is losing weight!

Birth and Baptism anniversaries

Happy Birthday, RGH!
Happy Baptism Day, PCR!

As a friend once said, a lovely symmetry.

Saturday Camino

Although haze filled the sky, halfway through the walk
the sun broke through and the magnolia and the bees and the black eyed susans and the heather and the rose all revealed their hues.

Another night in paradise

We have been delightfully living outside through
this vacation.
So very restful and no TSA.

Post Dental Surgery

Oliver had dental surgery today.
He had gingivitis. He also needed two teeth pulled.
He came home pretty loopy and still is rolling around
on the rugs like a goofy trick dog whose on button got stuck.

Finally, A Short Camino Outside

We had a break from smoke, well, kind of, today.
You could see the lake, but not the mountain.
But, enough  good air to eschew the gym and hit the pavement.

In the Bushes and In the Skies

The pumpkin volunteer plant is taking over our front yard and even climbing the bushes.

This morning the wildfire smoke was so thick there was neither mountain or lake.
No caminos, only the gym.

Reading week from the Swing

Today we hung out at the swing.
The keeper is barreling through quite a mix tape of books.
She shows little desire to do much else, except entertain friends, and
walk and garden a little.

Sunday Dinner

We hosted more guests last night.
Irene made her first official visit to the cottage.
Patty and Suzy, we know.
Oliver took a shine to Irene.

Conversion Zone

We live in the conversion zone.
It was raining on the deck and thundering, while a mile down south,
rain was old news.

Scenes from Readng Week

Here are the sights from our yard.
