A Camaroonian Dinner

After Vespers the keeper joined up with a friend from many years ago, his wife, her mother and two other friends for a traditional Camaroonian dinner...cassava root with endole, a leafy plant kind of like spinach only bitter which gets cooked till the bitterness gets out, potatoes and shrimp with good French wine. A wonderful evening sharing stories of ecclesial politics and more. The end ole actually came from Camaroon!

Going...gone!

Swedish before Vespers.

Swedish after Vespers.

Waiting for Her Keeper

The keeper hung out at home today till early evening. Well, not exactly at home, but in the neighborhood. She went to QFC and besides bringing home hors d'oeuvres for her dinner out tonight, she brought home this photo of Annabelle whose keeper seems a lot like mine except Annabelle gets to wait in the car. And not too happily. I suppose I should be grateful.

Happy Baptism Day!

The keeper has a friend who is marking a baptism anniversary tomorrow. So they celebrated, and apparently had a very fine time.  Meanwhile I stayed home alone again. At least she leaves KING FM on so I can listen to opera in my solitude.

Farewell, Old Swedish!

Swedish Hospital this morning

Swedish Hospital this evening.

I understand that they are tearing down an old portion of Swedish Hospital. This is what it looked like in the am and later, in the pm. Check back tomorrow for more reports.

Congratulations, Parenting Class Grads!

Right...she left me again with the house cleaner, who was better company than the keeper. The house cleaner doesn't have her nose in a book or a screen, she actually talks to me.
Today was all about Latino ministry.  Another one of those groups graduated and she passed out certificates. Then she helped some other people with their marriages. She came home  not to see me but to make a salad and get ready for a party for a friend. So I spent the evening alone.

Happy Birthday, Steve!

Well, it was Friday night and you know who didn't stay home with me.  Oh, no, she got home from her office and fed me and then went out to a place called Rositas's on Green Lake for a birthday dinner for Steve. I probably wouldn't have had much fun.  I hear it was noisy. And then they went over to the house where those greyhounds live.  I guess we all handle grief differently. Cecil will have been gone four weeks this Wednesday.

First Camino of Spring

She fed me and headed out for the first walk of spring down to the Lake where she luxuriated in the rich fragrance of daphne and hyacinth/  She also spied Rainier poking out of the clouds.  I told her I doubted her photo did it justice. I also told her that I had heard that H and T's keeper has a better camera on her phone with lots more pixels, whatever those are, and she would have been able to pick up the delicate shading.  But, she is very devoted to her present camera which also serves as a phone, but is a better phone than a camera.

With Judge Gonzalez Uniting for Change

The keeper left me this morning and headed to UW to a conference on Latino Leadership. She told me when she returned that it was one of the best events she has attended in terms of organization, motivation and effective networking.  Now I am not sure what all of that means but I know when she is happy, I am well treated. She also mentioned that she found Judge Gonzalez and his views on bias and the need to change the imagination of children very compelling. I am not sure what that means either. But, she was very pleased, and of course made lots of new friends.

First Day of Spring at Pomodoro

She was very late in coming home to me, according to my feline sense of time. While she dined, I fasted. While she was yukking it up with Suzy, I was pining away for my dinner. And when she got home she didn't even thank me for my patience and endurance. The leftovers did smell good, though.

St. Leo's Vista of Mt Rainier on a Not So Clear Day

So the keeper left me and went to Tacoma to a place she lived long long ago in cat years. She returned to a parish where she had spent 17 years doing a variety of things including teaching in a school building which has now been completely transformed into a beautiful center for community services. She went up to her old classroom to check out the view..tide flats, yes, Mt. Rainier, not visible, as it was often not visible when she was teaching.

St. Patrick's Breakfast

The keeper left me this morning for Mass and a fundraising breakfast for Solanus Casey House.
Pancakes, sausage, potatoes, green butter, fabulous dancers, great company, and a superb team.
The keeper brought home a prize in a bottle which  she received  for having a good costume. It was those flashing earrings. Last night someone offered her a bottle for them. Good thing she kept them. Now she has both them and a bottle!

St. Paddy's Day Dinner

Tonight was the annual St. Patrick's Day dinner. The guests multiplied, as did the frivolity and the laughter.

More Things We Never Tire Of Seeing

She came home tonight at a decent hour. And both of us made a fuss over the gorgeous cherry trees across the street that seem to explode into the sunset.

DST First Hill 7PM!

The keeper didn't publish her posts from Wednesday when
she left me alone at home without coming home to feed me. She did however feed herself with that Thai dish. She went to a small group to talk about joy and the Gospel. But I did concede that the sunset from  Marian and Terry looked pretty good.

Wednesday dinner

The keeper brought home leftovers from Thai restaurant on Boren. It was mostly vegetables and those glassy noodles. And it was spicy. So I didn't ask for any.

The Shrine With Lights

We lit the candles and. shrine in Kittyrood tonight.

Afternoon walk

The keeper returned home from the Cathedral after some very lovely conversations,
And for the first year in forty, since she did not have to work on Sunday, took a long leisurely stroll down to the lake. Rushing water and blooms greeted her.
