At an Italian Dinner

This has bee quite a day for us.
She came home to us from the Mass and seeing three exhibits
at the Frye which would not permit photography.
She graded papers while we tried to sleep on her computer keyboard.
Then she left in a hurry to go to a benefit Italian dinner
for the choir's upcoming trip to Italy.

She had a great table with a real Roman citizen,

and other dear friends.

Marjorie and Susan sang Rossini's Cat duet, and she filmed it for us.

The young women's choir sang some serious stuff
and did a little Sister Act.

The pastor on receiving a compliment about the choir,
wrote it off to his impeccably good taste.

At the Mass for Creation

This morning she left us to go celebrate creation.
But brought us home some literature about
Catholics being concerned about animals.

She had offered to bring Oliver for a Pet Blessing
but the pastor is not too amused when she brings up the
Blessing of the Animals.

The Best Toy of All

When she took Friday off, we were excited
and hoped we could all spend it outside.
So much for our fantasies.
She said she would go to Costco and Petco
and bring us gifts.
Petco gifts weren't really gifts--is a new bag of litter a gift? Really?
But, we should have known she had something better for us...
the Costco produce box!
We took turns rolling around in it all day long.

We are not quite sure what she meant when
she started talking about us being on the spectrum.

Mayoral Forum

Tonight we ate late because she attended a Mayoral forum on homelessness
at the usual spot.
We hear it was quite a forum.
She was very proud of the Cathedral team who planned and emceed this
as well as those who assisted with crowd control.

Luna with Cloud Wisp

The moon looks full here.  It is only at the halfway
point but she can't  make her phone capture that detail.

At The Roastery

Our keeper said she found a new tourist attraction--
Starbucks has a huge very fancy roastery and tasting room on Capitol Hill,
along with a gift shop that sells Starbucks bikes as well as
coffee mugs.
She should have taken photos of all the tour bus people
taking photos of themselves in front of the massive front doors.
Craziness!
She did have an iced espresso with orange almond milk,
mint, and selzter water!
Equal craziness!

Happy Autumn!

Autumn brought a little rain and grey and darker early eves,
but some  plants were very happy.

But by today the sun was warm and it
was a perfect camino day.

The LFP leaves are beginning to turn.

The blackberries are having their last fling.

The little jack o' lantern plants
are lighting up the neighbor's driveway.

The Oregon Grape is drawing a little attention as well.

She Was Correct! It was Sherman Alexie's Fault!

Tonight she came home and headed to the gym.
The parking lot, upper and lower, was jammed.
It wasn't even free pizza night at the gym.
She pondered, "Who could bring everyone out in all this rain?"
And then, "Only our old friend Sherman could cause this!"

Sure enough, she went up to Third Place Books.
And there he was with an SRO crowd, security guards,
and she was impressed with her intuition.
She knew him in the old days.

With Richard Cohen and Morris Dees

Tonight we ate late again, so fashionable are we.
The keeper and her friend attended a packed Benaroya Hall tonight to hear from Morris Dees and Richard Cohen. Dees is now in his 80's and focused on creating a sustaining legacy
for the SPLC he founded.

There was a meet and greet reception following.

The Seattle Police were very present to protect him.

Missing Mariam

The keeper was fortunate to work with a very lovely young woman
who left to take another position.
She left a very tidy desk but they would rather have her.

Rain!

NO wandering today.
It rained. And we watched it from our perches.

Another Oliver !

Can you imagine?
There is another Oliver who wanders!

Hazy Saturday Camino

Saturday smelled like everyone was burning something in their back yards,
but the smoke was really coming from Eastern Washington.
So because there was no mountain to seek, the flowers were much more attention grabbing.

At An American Dream

We dined late, later than the fashionable hour.
She went to a new opera about the Executive Order that
sent Japanese citizens to camps during WWII.
Many from here were taken and it was to the basement of the old Washington Hall
where the opera was held  tonight that many of the internees
were summoned to receive their orders.

What did we do this afternoon?

It was all green and not so hazy today.
The wisteria is putting out new seed pods.

We got to go out all afternoon.
We chased squirrels.  They love all our attention.
We are a wee bit tired tonight.
Lucy isn't used to that much exercise.

What She Saw While We Were Stuck Inside

This week went by surprisingly quickly, given the fact that we spent it mostly indoors.
Here are some of the sights from her adventures outdoors, though.

Flowers found on a haze filled evening walk

Mbassi sent a picture from last Sunday.

And then there was plant based ice cream.
She had the salted caramel with ash that
tasted like licorice. Excellent,we hear.

Luna Naranjada

Tonight the moon glowed orange in a Halloweenish way.
Clearly foreboding end time images!
