Mona, the Spying Neighbor

We were all outside on the deck when we heard a crash and some falling small branches.
We thought the other one had caught a bird.
It was only Mona, the new neighbor, on our garage roof, taking afternoon naps in the wisteria.
She is spying on us.

Hot! Too hot for cats!

.

We are now wearing kerchiefs soaked in cold water
They feel good, but we feel stupid wearing them.
Lucy chewed hers off and I dumped mine in the litter box.

Battery

Waiting for AAA to finish working on Judy's dead battery
after the Contemplative Dialogue Group.
We got Hum-bow's from the Fist Hill Improvement Group's
Terry Street Bingo Night.

Red Moon

The IPhone didn't do it justice.

A lovely dinner

A lovely dinner tonight with friends back from Eire.
The after dinner tea was served in new Irish tea pot and cups.

Meanwhile little Theo entertained on his rope swing.

Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen, Our Shepherd, Hero, Friend

Archbishop Hunthausen died this afternoon.
He was 96 going on 97.
He looked forward to the next stage of his journey.
And God finally called him home on the Feast of Mary Magdalen.
There is a divine sense of humor and rightousness.

"Blessed are those who have died in the Lord.
Let them rest from their labors,
for their good deeds go with them."

A Very Bright Picnic

The picnic was wonderful, so many people from the parish and neighborhood,
young, old, and in between, housed, unhoused, God's whole raggedy band.
A true celebration of hospitality.

Happy Dia de Santiago!

Today the Cathedral celebrated the Feast of St. James.
James makes his entrance at the dismissal rite, but waits for his cue
behind a pier  and pillar in front of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

Sky

Flora

Finally she went out walking and found time to savor the beauty of our neighborhood.
It has been a terribly intense few weeks with
no breaks and no time for anything but work.
Tonight was like a tall glass of water.
Tomorrow she will resume work.

It has been hot!

We have had some hot days.
We are grateful when she comes home from the office or wherever it is she goes
because we get to go outside.
At night we sleep with a fan.
But if she wants to get us lion cuts, we would not complain.

We guess we have other family members.
she went down to sea Tac for a quick visit with her niece ad grand niece.

The are both pretty charming.
The grand niece wants to be a marine biologist who saves whales.

Wednesday’s outdoor office

Her office is so cold  that she took refuge
in the outside courtyard all Wednesday afternoon.

Second stop after first day of class

Second stop on the end of the first day of school was the deck, with
books and cats racing in the backyard.

First stop after first day of class

She started teaching Summer Qtr on Tuesday.

Before she leaves campus she stops in to pay her
respects to old friends who got her into this gig in the first place.

On Deck

We prefer to stay home, and when she is home we get to
hang out on the yard and deck.
The crows are not fond of our presence, though.

Market Day with Dogs

We did not ask to accompany her to the market.

Lots of people and strollers and

dogs.  Some too old to walk who come in wagons to see everyone,

and to hear the music.
