Magnolia 9:30 pm!

Before she returned to me she went to a dinner in Magnolia
which she says was wonderful and delicious as always.

The sun had set by the time she got home to me, though.

Lola's for Brunch

A brisk walk downtown to Lola's for brunch with great companions,
good food and conversation. Thanks, Stephen, for setting this up!

Corpus Christi Luck? Or Providence?

Only at st. James would the rain disappear on cue and reappear when the procession and benediction had concluded! There had been a Plan B in case.

A Visit to the Frye

One of the graduates of a grade school she had overseen  was curating an exhibit from the Underground Museum in LA. The artists were nephews of a coworker.

The Peace Garden was a relief from the 3-4 screen videos.

And the Dutch Boy paint sample swatch  being a meld of red and blue states in the past election.

Moon

Saturday Downtown

I spent Saturday all alone. In the morning, there was a funeral and reception, in the early evening she was reading for the liturgy.  So she did what came instinctively--she went  downtown to buy funeral clothes for an upcoming event in the Midwest.
The music in front of Pacific Place was so good people were dancing and laughing and stopping to listen for a longtime. He was very good.

Gazebo

Friday the keeper stayed home, or better, didn't go into Seattle.
But she did leave me for Costco, plant nurseries, and other stores.
She found a pre-made cedar gazebo for our back yard, some assembly required, though.

Urn Desperately Seeking a New Plant

The hibiscus we planted last summer in the huge white pot
caught a chill this winter and died.  We are desperately looking for a hardier plant with showy color and able to withstand the keeper's neglectful caretaking.

Laudato Si Church and Home

There was an environmental fair after Mass.

There was a visit to the LFP Farmer's Market for more beautiful flowers.

Then there was a trip into our own yard for more.

Opera angst

The keeper had a good seat but it was not good enough to see part of the stage and some of the singers.  A huge wheel blocked her view and she wasn't the only one craning her neck and popping up to see if she could see anything.
This was not her favorite production by a long shot.

Pre Opera-Crow and Dog

Last night I dined alone. She and Suzy headed off to the opera --last show of the season.
They started at Crow in a private dining area, and while she awaited Suzy she watched the action from the window.
It seems a family wanted to let their basset mix pet, beloved, out of their truck for a walk following her wait for them while they were at Seattle Center. So they played with each other.  Then the dog met other dogs out for walks, but was quite taken by a bulldog.  It took a little bit of sniffing, but they became friends quickly.

Pentecost Monday

Today the flora across from the keeper's office made a fiery show
despite the clouds and the showers.

Fire!

Happy Pentecost!!

LFP Sunday with Llamas

The flower growers tell us that they are blooming too quickly
and are way ahead of schedule.
They are so beautiful.  She brought home two big bouquets with peonies and tulips and lupine.

The llamas and alpacas came to visit today.  They were sporting spring  hair cuts. And they were tired of eating carrots out of the hands of little children. This girl decided to get their attention by yanking a tail.

They were not amused.

Preparing for Pentecost

We were anxiously awaiting arrival of the fire table this afternoon.
However, right before the keeper was getting ready to leave for the Cathedral,
they called to say it would be coming early.  She didn't trust me to give them instructions, so she made up a little guide for the delivery people.

It worked, and when she got home, it was there, covered up and mostly assembled.

The Convocation was...

. . . .chilly!
By lunch Larry went out and brought a blanket that the keeper wrapped herself in, she gave her blanket to David, and Larry donned his hunting coat over his other jacket.  Maybe they kept it chilly to keep them alert.
She came home to me with a very icy nose and we turned the heat on.

Thank You Concert

Yup.  You can guess where she was and why I ate late.
To her credit, she did skip the post concert reception so she could get home to take care of my needs.
It is a year of mercy, n'est pas?

The choir gave a concert to thank their friends and supporters. I hear it was very well done with a nice selection of beautiful music. They even showed a little personality and told the audience a little about themselves.

Luna Over Queen Anne and Shoreline

Queen Anne

Shoreline

With The Nun on the Bus

Sr. Simone, who has been rocking the country with her bus campaign for just social policy has been in town, so the keeper and a friend went to see and hear her. Most of the assembly at the Methodist Church was Catholic.  So this means the keeper knew most of them.

Blue Dress Breakfast

She left me early for the St. V de P Blue Dress Breakfast. Quite the fundraiser!
They have a fashion show  with designer wear from the stores modeled by employees, and O' Dea and Holy Name students. It was a packed house, and we hope the crowd was generous.

Fleurish at the Cottage

Our first rose.

The clematis is loving the weather and crawling all over the front porch.  We won't be at all surprised to find tendrils sneaking under the front door.

The allium just popped out!

Lavender is ahead of schedule!

Opening Day LFP Farmers Market

Opening day was so crowded it was hard to find parking. Because it was Mother's day, all the flower bouquets were double the price. But well worth it. Maika's Garden never disappoints.  The keeper came home with a mound of peonies and lupine. The llamas and alpacas didn't come because a stable of food trucks took up their space. Maybe next week.

And the Winner is . . . !

On this Mother's Day she celebrated being my keeper by making the fire pit selection.
Thanks to all who shared their opinions.
I understand this one is called a Fire Table. It was more moderately priced than some.
And after having a fact finding conversation with the Sales Associate at Lowes about how hard it would be to assemble...the sign said you can pay them $20 to assemble it completely, he told her it comes already fully assembled in its box.  All you have to do is add the stones which come in a separate box. She thought she was up to the task.
However, she was not up to dragging it home, or even trying to.  So the ever so helpful sales associate told her they would deliver it for $78. When she told him it was too much, he said, " It's Mother's Day, "I'll waive the delivery fee!"
So next Sunday afternoon, it will arrive, we will add the lava rocks, and celebrate Pentecost here with flame and warmth on the deck!
