Forensic Marine Biology

While the keeper hiked the beach she looked for jetsam and flotsam from Japan.  She found a decorative pillow and a rose, the latter probably not from Japan. But we are sure it has a story. She also ran into a team of UW students in a Marine Biology practicum who were studying dead birds on the beach.  She wanted to talk about things that caused their deaths...acidic factors, global warming, garbage.  But they believed the cause of death had more to do with big storms. Ther were about 6 birds in a mile and a half. 5 gulls and a pelican. Some storm!
