The Tree Lighting Ceremony
This past Sunday evening the keeper attended a lovely service of lessons and carols at the cathedral. It was a lovely antidote to the mess of last week...to be surrounded with children's beautiful music, to be in the darkened church with lit candles, and it be sent into the night to be light. When she came home, the keeper mentioned that she thought the event was more subdued, and the children more subdued, most likely because of the events of Friday. But when the keeper got home she decided it was time to decorate the tree which had stood bare and waiting for the past few days. So we cheered her on, while she took great care to select each ornament and remember how she received each, or on which vacation she found them.
