The Bad News

On Monday we waved a fond goodbye to the keeper who headed to a day of meetings. On the way to a final meeting, she stopped at her favorite service station mechanics to get new windshield wipers. They wanted to check out the status of the clutch and oil drip.  She was visiting with a friend when Julie called her to tell her that she should call the car broker ASAP, that she shouldn't drive on any hills or the freeway.  Julie is protective.  But the keeper felt like she was losing a dear friend.  She and the car have spent 15 interesting years together, and for the past five years, the car has been her constant companion, her office on wheels, her restaurant. So, not only was she in grief, but she didn't want to go through the hassle and expense of finding a car so fast. We tried to be supportive, but she was unhinged.
