Things Easily Taken for Granted
Behold ---two things which the keeper and our royal selves often take for granted. Exhibit A: Thermostat. We expect to be able to lounge over the heat vents in the chillier eves and mornings, and we expect the keeper to turn the dial and for the heat to appear. We have learned this does not always happen so smoothly. In our case it took four house calls, an injury from our rotting ladder, a call to Jose to build a new ladder, another house call with the Master Furnace Problem Solver, a $500 part, and a bid to build a filter to protect the furnace from our fur. Last night we finally got back to our heat vents. The keeper was happy she didn't need a whole new furnace.
Then, today, Exhibit B: Laptop. We discovered that network drivers need updating. This project took three hours of phone conversations with Century Link and HP. The keeper was very impressed with all three service technicians, two from undisclosed places in SE Asia, and one from somewhere in the middle of the US where it is 90 degrees and humid. They were the nicest friendliest people and very patient with the keeper who is very impatient with directions and details. She was also happy that she doesn't need a new computer this week because she has no time for anything extra. So we are back blogging again.
