We understand that the keeper and dozens of others are virtually walking to Compostela for the next six weeks. She has set a lofty goal of almost 30 miles per week, and she has offered Cecil a harness and leash so he can accompany her and get his stamps. After about a half-block, he balks, not quite up to the challenge. we are encouraging her to walk with others but she seems happy to walk alone. We think she is becoming more reclusive with age.
We are really impressed with your keeper's ambitious walking goal. Our keepers wrote down just 60 miles in their passports, and that's for the whole five weeks.
ReplyDeleteThat's nothing compared to what we would do, of course, if they would ever let us out.

Tom and Hairy,
ReplyDeleteWe think our keeper has issues with competition and a certain driven-ness. We think it is in the family DNA, certainly not from us. She lets us out, and although we are not supposed to leave the yard, we do about a mile each day. Perhaps we should get our own passports. But then we would have to fess up to our meandering.
