The Long Walk

There were new cheerful peonies.

There was a mountain wrapped in gauzy light.

There were wild irises at Lyon Creek Park.

And on the way home, there was a lemonade stand to help children in Nepal.

Post Liturgy Market Day

LFP Market was full of people, dogs, and even a wood-fired pizza oven.

This bouquet is now in our dining room.

Happy Trinity Sunday

Greetings from our cottage to yours on this beautiful Sunday!

Surprises on a Pensive Day

Today was a perfect day for pondering much. And with the gray gauzy sky, the roses dazzle a bit more.

Then just as the keeper left all of her reading and thinking to plant some more flowers, who should arrive but Jesus with a pickup of treasures, including cast off plants from his clients, as well as a huge pottery urn which another client didn't like anymore! We found homes for all the  treasures!

What is precious...

...is to never forget...

the names of those

who in their lives

fought for life,

who wore at their hearts

the fire's center

born of the sun they traveled a short while toward the sun

and left the vivid air signed
with their honor.

In Magnolia

\

Tonight, I was fed early and she left me to  have dinner with some friends in a place where you can see lots of different kinds of water. She came home late and I made her feed me again.

Fruits of Creation

Presentation is everything!

LFP Market Day

The Market started up several Sundays ago. This year they have crepes and pizza! As well as everything else that is organic and beautiful.

Veni, Veni

They had a spectacular Pentecost feast at the cathedral.
Then she came home to me after making a bunch of stops for tomato plants, flowers, and food.

This is how she celebrated Blessed Oscar Romero

We had a very busy day off here. She slept till 10, finally fed me, went to the gym, stocked up on party supplies, read a book, cleaned our floor and talked my vet.  Here's the dilemma---should I go back and have my thyroid irradiated and be released when I am no longer radioactive? I have already  done that and didn't like it. So we are opting for thyroid cream that is rubbed into my ear.

Enough about me. That  is not what these photos are about.
She left me for a BBQ and time with her good friends. The divine Miss Mary Grace even made an appearance!

Haute Couture

The keeper made her quarterly run to Costco and as a reward for not running down all of the people dawdling with their carts and their tipping piles of party supplies and meat, she visited the Bargain Boutique for Children's Hospital. It was a day for Milan '60's runway nostalgia. All the high fashion labels were 50% off! She tried on an Oleg Cassini frock worthy of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, but realized she needs to spend at least 10 MORE  hours a week at the gym in order to be seen in it.

A Visit to Northgate Vet

I waited for the vet after her assistant probed me and after I sneezed and drooled all over her.

I learned that I may need some more antibiotics and that my thyroid may be hyperacting again.
But, I did get  a pedicure.

Waiting for Pentecost

She left me with my bland food and went to the office.  Many hours later she returned and  at least she noticed I had only picked at that bland food. Yes, I know it comes in a pricey can.  But it doesn't have a lot of flavor. Sigh. So, naturally,  she gave me some more of the same and went to the gym. Most days I really don't know how I could improve my communication with her. Was I not clear that I was expecting something different? Humor me, please.
It seems that before she came home she was at the cathedral where a small crew of people most of whom I have met and who probably understand me better than the keeper,  are trying to hanging some rather stunning colors from a very high place. I hope it worked.

Bouquet

Tonight when the keeper got home she  did not go to the gym ,but went out with me and worked in the flower beds. "There are many ways to rid oneself of stress,"  she said. She likes to see results. And here is a place to see a lot! When she had seen enough results,  she brought a pile of our first roses into the house and put them on the dining room table. I think they are quite fetching!

Wisteria and Lights

We never took down all the Christmas lights because the keeper wanted to see what they would look like in the summer with all the leaves and flowers. I think it is very magical and the wisteria looks bejeweled now. I can bet you that they are staying up.

Don't stop looking up at the sky!

No matter what the Ascension  story says, the keeper will never stop staring at the sky.
She came home and when she left this gym this evening the sky over the lake looked like this.

Then, when she returned home, the western sky looked like this.
It was all blue and pink. I agree with the keeper when she says the photo doesn't capture its
 heartrending beauty.

The Walk

While I was basking in the afternoon sunlight celebrating that I had conquered my fear, the keeper went out on her Sunday jaunt. This time she was very impressed with one neighbor's clematis. She was also struck by the fact that people are buying up our little cottages and tearing them down to build big houses on our street.
However, she told me she almost brought back two new members of the royal family. down by the Avenue of the Republic of Peru, where a friend lives, she was greeted by a skinny little cat, with a shorter than usual tail, ribs showing, who followed her for a block or two. But the cat disappeared. she warned it about the coyotes.

Then, as she was nearing home, a sweet doggie was sitting at the crosswalk, waiting for someone, But the doggie also followed her with its sad eyes and skittish ways. It had a collar and tags, and after a block returned to its perch on the corner of the crosswalk, and sat with longing. She hopes that the awaited keeper returns soon.  Such devotion! But dogs are like that!

A Proper Introduction

Most of you who have spent anytime reading this blog know that we have Kittyrood in our back yard under the wisteria vines. Here lie the former members of the royal family---Lord Downs, Prince Anastassi, and Lord Cecil.  I suppose someday I will be there as well. Over the years it has accumulated small statuary. and also a huge white cat has taken up residence there for some time---somewhat sphynx-like. I have kept my eye on this cat everyday from my perch, but she never bats and eye or twitched that tail when I am watching. It is a ghostly larger than life cat, and it is bigger than me and unpredictable.

Today I was out with the keeper as she refilled all the hummingbird feeders and hauled piles of weeds. She noticed me spying on the white cat. She asked me to move aside, but I had to admit I was terrified of crossing the big white cat. She picked me up to move me and I hissed and clawed, and drew blood. Then she tried to show me it was not real or a ghost. She made me put my paw on its cold filthy head. I clawed and howled and growled some more. She now has scratch lines to prove this.

Finally she put the stone cat on the deck in front of me. I hissed. and tried to stare it down.
Finally I realized what she had known all along. This ghostly cat will be a new ally in scaring off the big gray cat who visits all too often while I am inside.

So, congratulate me. I conquered a big fear today. and I am quite pleased with myself.
The keeper's arms look a bit worse for wear, though.

Pike Place

This afternoon the keeper left me to go downtown to get a haircut and since she was there she visited Pike Place Market and found the second basement, which is teeming with delightful junk.

She also went over to the park to catch a glance at the monster Shell Oil rig which is such a point of contention. It is as big as a mega-mansion.  She couldn't see any protesters in their kayaks, though.
