We had hoped it would be warm and dry enough to start working on Christmas lights today.
The keeper had a new plan to hang light nets over the cherry tree instead of winding lots of strands. Besides, last year the squirrels ate about a dozen strands, and we are a bit short. Then the endodontist called. They wanted to check her tooth to see if she needed a root canal. Lighting plans thwarted. We understand he does have a beautiful office and a sense of humor. No root canal needed.
At 4 it was still light enough to haul out the boxes of lights. About 4:45 we heard her hanging from the ladder wrapped in a net of lights muttering in the dark under the cherry tree, "Jesus will have to finish this. Why do I always think I can do it alone?????" She is not referring to the one we consider Emmanuel, but is referring to the one who keeps our hedges and yard trimmed. Although, there is good argument that he too is Emmanuel. But we digress. She almost got the cherry tree done, but needs more net lights. We have a hunch Jesus will come our way sooner than Emmanuel to finish the project and make it very nice.
