Back On the Road for the Golden Circle

We got back to the hotel at 1:30 this morning after chasing the Northern Lights
And waiting in the frigid crystal night for a showing.
Photos will be forthcoming.
But, fueled by our adventure with the lights, we headed off on the Golden Circle Tour
at 8:30 this morning.

The Golden Circle Tour is an all day event which includes the geyser fields, a spectacular set of waterfalls and Pingvellir National Park .
We were on Bus 1 and our Tour Director  was a no nonsense field marshall!
No one was ever late for the bus again after the first shaming incident!

We headed back into the mountains and toward the glaciers. Iceland has over 300 volcanos, mostly inactive, but 2 are waiting to blow up.

There are geothermal spouts all over the land, and this geothermal power heats the whole country.

We drove past dozens of thermal steam vents.

They can be 1800 degrees hot!
