The Great Halloween Light Robbery

Last eve the keeper went out to turn on the Halloween lights that were decorating the Kittyrood area, and nothing happened. Everything was plugged in.  Then she discovered that the wires had been cut, bulbs were missing, and filaments were flying loose.  A mystery, indeed.  She didn't bother to ask us for ideas. But, we would have told her what she discovered for herself today as she looked out the window.  The squirrel, the same one who carried off the hummingbird feeder to his nest, was  chewing off portions of the wires, biting off the bulbs, and then scurrying away to bury them for the winter. This squirrel is shredding three lines of 100 lights each in a very systematic fashion! What a surprise when they try to eat these things.  Although the keeper thinks that that this surprise would be cruel and unusual punishment for the robbery, she will try to prevent any further intestinal damage by cutting down all the pieces that remain.  Interestingly enough, they are not touching the clear lights we forgot to take down after Christmas, only the orange ones.
