The keeper was fascinated by the image of St. Lucy carrying the tray with the eyes. Nancy considers Lucy a great image of a theologian, because she is the patroness of eyesight. Nancy believes that the work of theology is to help people see and understand their own existence, the world, God, more clearly. The keeper wanted to know who was the patron/ess of the ears. She thinks the Church may need a little help in this regard as well.
According to the patron saints index, the patron saints of hearing are Drogo, Meriadoc, Quen, Cadoc of Llancarven, and Francis de Sales. Not very inspiring except perhaps to J. R. R. Tolkien.
