Early Summer Eve
Meanwhile, the keeper and I sat on the unfinished deck while she wrote in her journal and I watched the hummingbirds at the feeders. If you watch closely enough the wisteria will grow an inch in front of your own eyes. What a beautiful day!
Path Waiting for Deck
The pathway is almost finished, save the moss in between the stones.
We are now awaiting the arrival of ML on Monday who will finish the deck and then we can all have a party to celebrate. Really.

Canvas Conquered!
Big night here. Since fall, the keeper had to learn something which she didn't think she could learn. It was not physics or trigonometry. She had to learn how to post the course she is teaching at SU on an online system called Canvas. Not that she s teaching online, but it's a way of saving trees and allowing students to interact with each other and professor, etc. She had a tutor who is really the most patient of beings and has a gift for working with old stubborn troglodytes.
The big news is that tonight the tutor sent an email telling her she was ready to publish her hard work, her syllabus, assignments, grading rubrics online. She pushed the button and it went live!!!!
Oh happy day! She did what she felt was impossible. Rah!
Confectionary Roses
The roses of which arrested the keeper's gaze tonight near the end of her walk looked like they belonged on cakes or hats.

Thank You, Mbassi and Jennifer!
After all the Corpus Christi celebrating, the keeper went over to Mbassi and Jennifer's organic garden spot at SU, and harvested a huge bag of greens and peas. She will be eating like a bunny all week!
Corpus Christi Luminosity
Today was the Feast of Corpus Christi. The Cathedral did it up in a most beautiful way.
Lovely liturgy, procession, choirs of every age group, the keeper said it was simple, elegant, and very grounded.

Great Idea for the Beach!
One dock has it all--picnic table, chaise lounges, and a chimenea. They could do this at their dock.
The Summer Day
Mount Rainier made a veiled appearance as the keeper took her first Camino of summer down to the lake.

Lovely Kokomo Seeking a Loving Home
The keeper has a friend at her office who is fostering a lovely senior kitty with special needs for the past five months. But her friend is hoping that Kokomo could find a forever home and be an only cat.
The friend says, "Kokomo is a sweet girl with some unique challenges, and is in need of a permanent home with someone who can give her all the vet care she needs and all the love she deserves. Kokomo has some physical issues with her back legs and back. She is able to walk around, but her back legs don’t work quite right and her back/hind end is sensitive. She isn’t able to jump up, and jumping down results mostly in a “splat” as opposed to a landing. She has no trouble eating or drinking and uses her litter box just fine."
As you can all see, Kokomo is very beautiful and very sweet tempered. If anyone would like more information about her, please send us a comment and we will be happy to share more. We also want to applaud the friend who is being such a good foster keeper right now.
Life Is Precious. As Are Our Friends
Just six weeks ago, the keeper had a fabulous evening with J and R and others at an event at the Chihuly Glass Museum. Their lively conversation that evening was full of plans for the future--trips, dinners, opera.
Tonight J was taken home to God. What a good and wonderful man. A faithful reader of our blog.
Our hearts at the Royal Cottage send R our love, our support, our prayers. If we will miss him, imagine how much she will. They were such precious companions for each other.
Life is short and not our own. Treasure those who have been given to you, and savor the time. These two certainly did!
Mariachi Ministries Dinner
Tonight was the Ministries dinner. They hired a group of ten Mariachis to bring a little Latino passion to the event. People seemed to enjoy them as they did each other.
Hazel the Goose
Hazel the goose is a pet. She has a leash, a diaper, and a loving family. The cathedral is full of interesting people, for sure, and equally interesting pets.

Evening Camino
After she came home from her office today, the keeper took a long walk down to the lake, but kept getting very distracted by the gardens and the color refreshed by the morning rains. she got there and back. I stayed inside and watched Jesus cut the lawn. It looks good. He is also almost done with our stone path.
Ladies Working Lunch
The keeper had a working lunch with two fabulous people on the 13th floor of Panorama House. It was a great time to dream new possibilities. Thank you, Pope Francis!
The grey clouds of morning fled and the sun began to appear over the damp city.
It was all quite elegant. Thank you, Helen!

Divine Miss MG
This weekend the keeper also took in a dance recital across the street. I chose not to go. But MGD was dancing an Irish dance piece. I heard she was very good and very graceful.
The keeper told me she was inspired by all the adult tap dancers. They have a beginner class this summer. I am not sure where she would practice or when!
A Productive Weekend
This was the first weekend that the keeper and I had the house and the schedule to ourselves.
So what did she do? She went out and ran errands. But she did bring me home a new cardboard box from Costco and some new pillows for my perch outside. When she got home, I helped her plant nasturtium seeds all over. Then I tried to amuse her as she worked on the course she is teaching for summer school. She was not amused, but I think she appreciated my attempt.
