A Farewell and Reconnection

The keeper spent last evening with some new friends she made during Lent while they reflected on Pope Francis' exhortation, Joy of the Gospel.  I understand that they were a superb group. Last eve they reconnected and said goodbye to Brother John who is leaving for New York.  The food was also delicious but not the the focal point of the evening.

Recycled Chapel

This week the keeper went from her office to another one of  her organizations's program places.
The program is located in a former convent.  They have turned the chapel into a clothing and baby supply room. The sacristy is the storage spot for all the diapers! A most interesting recycling project.

Celebrating Graduation

This afternoon after a shake you to your soul Pentecost at the Cathedral, and more, the keeper
rushed home and five minutes later rushed out to her godson's graduation party. Lots of family, family friends, kids all grown up,  where did 18 years go?  He looked so handsome today. He will be off to school in Montana in the fall.

Sabbath Camino and More

Yesterday we observed a real day off. It wasn't a day for sitting in the yard eating  ice cream or sipping G and T's, but the keeper did no servile  work, which for her means no talks, meetings, or prep. She did walk, shop, play in the garden. We watched California Chrome fail to grab the Triple Crown. She even fixed a fabulous dinner on the grill. I got a little of it. Then we watched Breakfast at Tiffany's, and marveled at what a well trained cat Cat was.

Beautiful Faces of a Morning Camino

Yesterday morning the Keeper decided to forego the gym and walk.  And this is what she reported. She said it smelled like summer in the garden, the birds were loud and beautiful, and the flowers were all just opening up to the sun. It seems she may do this again. It was probably better for her than three cups of coffee.

Moon for a Sad City

Last the keeper received a text from a friend alerting her to the half moon.
She missed it. But tonight she went out and caught it. On the iPhone it looks full. But it seems a watchful consolation to the city and all of those at SPU  who have been so affected by the shooting there. This insanity must come to an end!

After the Break In

As the keeper was driving home tonight, she received some texts that would change the course of the night. Jesus had stopped by to pick up some tools he had left. He noticed the side door to the garage open.
Then he realized someone had broken in.  And he thought he had surprised them since he heard someone rustling in the bushes and a truck tearing off. The thief had crowbarred into the door and broken the frame.  Surprise...there was little to take...Christmas ornaments, old luggage, Christmas lights, planting things, extra cat food and paper goods. some lawn furniture and golf clubs. Nothing of value. But a mess. The officer who came said that drug addicts are out looking for loot. They struck out here. But disabled the garage door to be able to carry all of their treasure out. They didn't even bother to take the Two Buck Chuck!

This is my reflection for the keeper.  She has guardian angels looking out for her.  If Jesus hadn't decided to swing by to pick up tools, much worse could have happened.  I am grateful that we are held with "greater a care than we could ever have kept ourselves!"
