Why We Won't Have Many Trick or Treaters at the Cottage

Down the hill from us the neighbors go all out. This yard even has sound tracks, a light show, and an owner with a dedicate storage unit for Halloween.

We bought some candy just in case, but most likely everyone will make a beeline down the hill.
BOO!

Responding to the Needs of the Unhoused in Federal Way

I ate very late tonight.  This is becoming a trend, and not a fashionable one for me.
So, she was in FW  at a powerful assembly celebrating local church and city responding to the needs of the poor people who continued to be pushed farther south. A group of churches and some social service agencies organized to open a day shelter for homeless people.

The Catholic pastor spoke eloquently. So did the mayor, city council people, state reps, and the people who developed the idea from the get go.

Friends from other parishes came to give support.

St. John in the Rain

Yesterday before she came home to feed me, the keeper had a lunch across from COH.
The pastor is very proud of the new St. John on 2nd Avenue. The deriving rain was no deterrent to the guided tour of the majestic piece. The other evangelists will follow soon.

Two Moons

Moon over Magnolia Village

Blessing the New Nest

Tonight I ate very late. The keeper was hanging out with friends and helping
say goodbye to a friend's family home of decades, and blessing the new home with friendship, hospitality, and fine bread and wine and clam chowder.

Remembering Jack's Lasagna

Tonight I was fed early, including the salmon treat. She was off yet again into the rain after our lovely afternoon in the yard puttering.
When she returned I asked what this dinner was all about--
"Friends," she said. Jim and Mary Grace and Steve and Carol.
And they had Jack's lasagna which he and Michael cooked for them two years ago,
 a month before he died.

They also gave Mary Grace fashion advice for school tomorrow. And talked about new boots!

Post liturgical dance Nicaraguense

The festivities continued after the Mass in the Hall.

Liturgical Dance Nicaguarense

Today before Mass the Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos from Nicaragua  offered a dance.
The keeper told me that she has a special place in her heart for Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos  in general because after her Mexico conversion experience at age 19, when she returned to school she sponsored one of the orphans. Sounds good, but at Christmas that year, when her family opened their cards and learned that instead of a gift, she had sent the cost of the gift to help feed a child in
Mexico, they did not share her joy. But she was undeterred for many years.

Two Moons

Moon on First Hill

Moon over our deck.

At Monteverdi Vespers

We spent a pleasant day together.  However, I knew it wouldn't last.
She went out to hear music which may have been an excuse for tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches at the Sorrento with a good glass of wine.

But she came home raving about the music and the haunting harmony and the sackbut and the  chitarrone..

La Luna de octubre

No comment from me.  We are loonies here.

Visitantes de Nicaragua

The keeper had a meeting at 910 Marion this afternoon.
She ran into the Pequenos Hermanos y Hermanas de Nicaragua and friends and Joe who were trying to visit the Youth Ministry Office, but the receptionist was leary of so much energy. They went in by a side door in the end.

Two Moonscapes

She would rather chase the moon than me.

Sweet October Morning

Sunlight and warmth!

And a sweet and thoughtful gift waiting on her desk!
Her favorite chocolates!

Pizza Surprise

Mod Pizza has a Grand Opening scheduled for this Friday at LFP.
But when the keeper left the gym tonight she noticed they were open. She was very excited.
So she walked into the restaurant, ordered her pizza, and when she tried to pay for it, they told her this was friends and family night and it was free.  She felt a little sheepish, but knows that in the next few months she will become family there.

Autumn Sky

Tonight's moon and sky at LFP.

Last night's sky with cranes was a lovely distraction from the stubborn traffic on Boren.

Sweet Fall

We really like fall this year. It is bright.  It is warm, and it is late Ocrober!

Sabbath

I was delighted to be able able to sit in her lap while she tried to read newspapers and correct someone's dissertation. It worked better than usual.

Last Fall Market

Remember when it opened late Spring? It closed today. She was sad.
She bid her flower vendors adieu and promised to visit at Pike Place.
She came home with flowers and cat treats.  She said there were boxers for adoption.
But she did not come home with a dog. Can you imagine?

Pearl Fishers

Yes, I ate alone again.  But she felt guilty and gave me a little chicken. So I felt no need to punish her in some passive aggressive way.
Where was she? At the Opera.
She said she it was good, but  she  liked the dancing, lighting, costumes, sets, music and chorus more than anything else.  Dinner was also good. As was the company!

Colors of Fall

The yard still is surprising us with colors!

Before the Rain

On her way to el gimnasio yesterday, the keeper tried to capture the tangerine light.
Clearly her phone camera is not as good as she would like it to be.

Quick Run Downtowm

After work she ran downtown on her own two legs to see Stephen.
She is not a lover of autumn usually, but this year is different because it is so dry and bright.
We know all good things must end, but are savoring it while it lasts.

Note the ubiquitous crane photo bombing the translucent view.

While She Was With Ilia Delio and Ignoring Me....

I was not able to have dinner until after 9 last night.
She was out learning how to be at one with all creation and the cosmos, while ignoring me.
She loves eating late, while I do not.
I ate part of a plastic bag and then threw it all up at her feet on the nice rug after she got back.
That plastic is not eco-friendly, nor nutritious. I hope I made my point.

She saw lots of friends at the event. And even saw part of a bouncy musical about salmon. Which I was hoping would be part of my long awaited dinner.
