Lagoon, Snorkel, and Chickens!

The keeper and her family went out snorkeling in the bay.  The boat left right outside their lanai.  Handy!  The inn had families of chickens and baby chicks, one of which the keeper and her sister in law tried to save when the mother hen left it sitting on a sidewalk.  It ended up dying. But there were lots more to take its place.  The feral cats also live well, but not on chicken.  They fish.

After the Hike, The Buddhist Temple

The keeper left the jungle in the middle of the Presbyterian Golf Club  with her family and headed to the Buddhist Temple for a tour, communion with the koi, the peacocks, and to chant a bit with with the sacred bells.

Country Club Church

The keeper has been filling me in on her off line exploits. She went hiking in the jungle/ woods at the base of a golf club which also housed the Presbyterian Church.  She watched the golfers come out after the Bible study, put their zippered Bibles in their golf carts and head off to insure their tee time.  She wonders if they sing hymns at the 19th hole.  She stayedon the trail as she scrambled over exposed roots, red mud, and found the llovely waterfall.

Aloha!

Hello, dear readers,  I am back in business.  The keeper has returned at last and told me that she didn't send me any photos or blog posts to share because she was off line for a total of ten days!  She said in paradise we don't need blogs.  Hmmph!  I had a nice time with the pet sitters.  They fed me, brushed me, and played with me.  But last night when the keeper came home, I chased my toys in circles until I was exhausted.  She was exhausted too, and surprised me in the middle of the night.  The black rolling bag has been put away, and now there are piles of clean laundry and presents for friends.  She seems browner and very very calm.

The Black Suitcase Is Back

The keeper thought she would be really sneaky and bring that rolled bag in while I went out to play.  But I have been watching her make piles of things in the room, wondering when the bag would come out.  I was waiting.  Well, it's here.  She is going soon, and as much as I tried to sleep in that bag, she kept moving me out and putting in other things.  I am not fond of being left, but I also don't want to go anywhere.  I just wish she would like to stay home more.  A nice lady, L, is coming to live with me here until the keeper gets back.  But, I will keep waiting by the window  for the sound of the keeper coming in the driveway. She bought a lot of new cat food, so this may be a while.  I will try to keep you updated from her trip.

Vegetable Planting at Last!

Finally the keeper got outside on Tuesday and planted the vegie starts that were waiting in their little plastic tubs.  She worked the soil first, and then found the right spots for cabbage, broccoli and brussel sprouts.  Who will eat all of this?  She even planted bok choy in a pot on the deck!

Maybe she does have some agricultural roots somewhere in her past.

The Third of January, not May!

This is what it felt like today.  Actually, it has felt like winter for a few days now. The keeper has gone back to wearing down clothing again.  But, as she reminds me, we could be worried about many other things--flooding, war, oil spills, volcanoes, in fact, we could still be trying to catch flights home from Europe.  She was out a lot today--work in different places, and we finally sat together and listened to the thunder this evening.  Meanwhile, all the plants are waiting for planting, but maybe they are safer in their pots right now. I feel safer in the house near the keeper's down slippers.
