At Les Deux Magots

A final farewell to cafe society for while.

And to those pigeon beggars!

The holidays are drawing near

At Louis Vuitton!

Pablo’s Whimsical Side

Pablo had a whimsical side which he shared with family and friends.
The paper scrap with the dog who looks like Libby on it...

A book inscription to a friend.

His cat.

The goat from their villa.

Picasso Museum

For years the pilgrim wanted to see the musee.  It was often under renovation.

One of his earlier paintings.

One of his later ones.

Rainy Metro and Stroll to see Picasso

On this last day, no rain would stop the pilgrim.
So with a metro ticket and her feet, she headed to the Îles and to Musee Picasso.

The rain didn’t stop the fish mongers either.

The Seine kept flowing.

And the cafe adapted very well!

La Méditerranée

We got a table at La Mediterrane, one of the better known
Fish places and it was worth the hassle of getting there.
The menus are designed by jean Cocteau and the food is so good that the flavors seem
Other worldly.

My hotel room

My hotel room feels like this,

But looks like this.

It does have a statue, though.

Met(ro) Life

Just wondering what Seattle could be now
If we had a Metro that covered the area...just saying...

Caravaggio at Jacquesmart- André finally!

After buying a ticket online, the line outside of Jacquemart-André was much shorter,
and once in, it was worth all the fuss to see the Caravaggio pieces hanging in that setting.
Kind of a crowded hush as viewers crammed into the rooms of the mansion.
After, there was time for lunch in the lovely tea room.

Dejeuner!

Fall at Luxembourg Gardens

The gardens don’t look as bare and bleak as they did
in March, but they will.
These last two nearly freezing days are helping that happen.
But they have a graceful way of saying.

After a 12000 step day in the freezing wind

We are staying in one of Hemingway’s favorite hotels.
There is a bit of memorabilia in the bar.
We can see why he liked it!
The Cardhu tasted even better after a day out in the elements.

A Race through Sainte-Chapelle

Ste.-Chapelle has been restored.
It is beautiful.
However, because of the time change,
There was only 20 minutes to enjoy it, and
The pilgrims were all but thrown out by the guards, the last to leave!

Flower and Bird Market

On the way to Saints-Chapelle, the y found the flower and bird market.
It was so cold they had put all of the birds in trucks to keep them warm.

Visiting with Pamela and the D-Vine Machine

Back to the Deux-Îles to have a coffee with Pamela.
She showed them the new D-Vine
Nespresso-like machine.
Made to order!

St. Gervais Sunday Liturgy

It was like winter stole in with the return of standard time.
Very very windy and cold.

It did. Not stop the intrepid pilgrims from walking to Mass
At St. Gervais et Protais.
So beautiful, so peaccful.  The homily was a little long, though.

Chartres Comes to Cluny

They had a special exhibit of parts of the Chartres Cathedral
Which were being restored.

An afternoon at Cluny

At the Cluny they absorbed all they could about the fabulous tapestries
unicorns.

The nursing Mary is delightful.

As was a smiling Mother Mary.
