The neighbors wanted to make a few changes to their kitchen. Well, they ended up redoing it completely. It looks like it could be in a magazine. We wonder what this will inspire at the cottage????

Be Loud for Breakfast!
Be Loud! That was the name of the breakfast she attended. We were shocked to think that she would actually leave the house for a breakfast which began at 7 AM with a thousand people. she is changing a little. It meant that we had to get up earlier as well, but we went back to sleep as soon as she left us!

Not So Empty Walls
We asked the keeper today how her first month has gone. She seemed very happy.
She told us that they finally hung the art about 10 days ago. We asked her how it looked. She showed us these photos. We thought it looks fine.

Receiving Guests
The keeper and the theologian spent the day running around--Mass, shopping, funeral, and home. They left the house later this afternoon and made themselves quite comfortable in the Sorrento lounge. The theologian received distinguished visitors, texts, and phone calls. They came home late after having spent five hours visiting and having a hilarious dinner with another distinguished theologian.

It Is So Not All About Me!
On the way home from the Eastside, she stopped at Mud Bay to pick up our food. They had dog t- shirts on sale. She said she asked if they were designed to fit small cats. No one knew. So she took one home for me. If she would have asked, I would have told her that they are NOT designed to fit small cats. Our legs attach differently. But she doesn't think to ask. I can't believe I actually let her put it on me so I could prove my point. This is SO not all about me, but about you know who, who some days has the common sense of a parakeet! Mud Bay told her she could bring it back after she took the photo of me in it. I hear they will put it on their bulletin board. It makes me look so pathetic!!! I hope I still have some dignity left. At least Cecil didn't see me in it.
Several Generations of Latino Ministry
Isaac even got out his guitar and surprised a few people with his musical talent.
Here are three generations of Latino Ministry in the Seattle Archdiocese.
Workshop with Theologian and Composer
We had a busy morning here. We entertained the cleaner while the keeper flew off for the Eastside for two events happening simultaneously. The parenting group started up again and then her friend Nancy and Pedro the musician were giving an all day workshop in liturgical theology in Spanish. The keeper got to attend both and run in between. She was impressed with both. The big workshop had about 140 people in attendance who were extremely engaged. Even the Bishop seemed to be enjoying himself.

CAD
This morning we had to get up at 5 am so the keepr could go down to Advocacy Day in Olympia.
600+ people attended. They started off with briefings about the issues and Mass before they headed to see their legislators about 4 key issues.
The Church was full.
So was the agenda.
This is About Music
At the Mass the keeper was very impressed that everyone knew the songs, while she didn't. But she was even more impressed that they all knew the numbers of the songs. Finally after Communion she realized that the red digital number display was not the clock or the flight number notice. but page numbers. "Most unusual" she said and we concurred.
In the Senate Hearing Room
The keeper and her district group occupied themselves with dumb jokes once they had gotten up to speed on the issues and while they waited for the legislative aide.
After they finished their meeting with the Senator's aide, they posed, feeling quite good about their work.

Bold Hints of Spring
Last weekend snow covered the ground. This morning when we woke up we found piles of hail and torn branches. But this afternoon the keeper finally noticed what we have been trying to point out...all those new tulip bulbs we planted last fall are gearing up for spring and the squirrels didn't get all of them! We also noted Daphne's scent in the backyard, but we don't think she has the capacity to pick up on it yet.

Rest In Peace, Aunt Ruth!
The keeper and her family are observing the passing of their last living aunt, Ruth, who after 101
years of living, went on home to God. She was a strong spirited woman, brilliant with class and style, who never stopped learning new things.
May well dressed angels lead you into Paradise and into the circle of family and friends who have been waiting quite a while for you to join them.

Valentine
It has been a long time since we have seen valentines in this cottage.
But tonight the keeper came home from a great evening with friends and showed us the valentine which the Divine Miss MG made for her. We think this made her happy. We would make one but without opposable thumbs it's hard. The best we could do would be to make designs with our food on the kitchen floor, and we know how that will be received.

Not So Bleak Mid-Winter
So, after her wild slide down 150th last eve, the keeper decided to take our advice and spend the day with us. We were pleased. This gave us a chance to point out to her some things she may not normally notice around the yard.
Cecil's favorite flavor of grass tastes even better when he can mix it with snow.
It appears that we had raccoon visitors early this morning who seemed to circle the house and then head over to the neighbors.

Surprise!!!
We were a bit worried this evening. She left here for errands and then to read at the Cathedral while Jesus measured the back yard for out new stone path.
It began to snow after she left. We weren't too worried because we had listened to all the weather reports earlier. The experts told us that if any snow would fall it would disappear as quickly as it arrived. But it didn't. When she didn't return in time to feed us, we began to be nervous. Alice had an accident and then threw up. Eventually the keeper got home after sliding down 150th with locked brakes.
We have a lot of snow here now and it is still snowing. We are cautioning her about going back downtown tomorrow morning.
We also stayed away when she found and cleaned up Alice's accident. She gets so worked up when the keeper messes up the routine.
We helped make soup for the week. This week it is bean, pasta, and onion.
We are thinking we all might have a quiet day at home tomorrow if she can't get out of the driveway.

Oh Moon!
It was a beautiful sky this evening. We were happy that the keeper came home early enough to see it with us. We have been pushing her to behold the stars for the last few nights. Several nights this week we all went out to see them.
By the way, we are aware that she has not been helping us much with this blog. We are trying to be patient with her as she adjusts to her new life, new work, and new workmates. Here's what we think: we think she is very happy although the learning curve is steep. She is eager to leave and returns to us happy. We will keep you posted.

Engaging the Issues At St. Joseph
We asked her why she went "home". She told us it was for her new work. There was a Mass and an evening of engagement with Clark County state legislators. Very fine. All very good, but, we were happy she finally got back to this home to be back with us. We get anxious when she stays out too late.
On the Road to the Homeland
She left us yesterday and told us she was going home. We thought this was home. But we learned that just as we came from Whisker City, the no-kill cat shelter, she didn't always live here either. We asked her if it was like our cat shelter. She smiled and said, "Not exactly". She said it is a little bigger now, and a lot more fancy, but still beautiful. But she still is grateful for having come from there.

What She Didn't Get
She visited Sense Nail Spa today. She was the only client who was not ordering up a full set of team spirit Seahawk nails. We thought you would like to see what she could have gotten, but didn't. We do not judge her, but while she is out tomorrow afternoon we may watch the game!
