The Dinner Party

Steve grilled burgers--a rare treat and everyone brought treats.

Meg, Carol's good friend, rode her bike from Bothell and brought homemade pound cake with berries and whipped cream in a 4th of July color scheme!

Jim showed us the flashlight pen  he just got in the mail advertising the company which he closed twenty five years ago!

Waiting until Dark

The big fireworks show in our area takes places at Log Boom Park off the fishing pier.
Some had come early to reserve their front row seats.

Mt. Rainier Appeared

Mt. Rainer showed up all ready to party with the rest of the area.

Independence Day Camino

The keeper spent the entire morning inside working on her class prep for this week. She was very proud she got as far as she did. And as a reward she let herself out of the house to walk seven miles to Kenmore.  The neighborhood was deserted. everyone had left for other places. So she was alone with the beautiful flowers and the birds. She even saw an eagle.

July is here!

The summer lilacs are a really big thing for the keeper. They are the harbinger of July and all it holds. They seem to take her back to her childhood summers.  One whiff of their heady fragrance and she is five,
or eight, or eleven, roaming the river bank with a pack of  neighbors, riding Sugar,  or curled up on a porch swing reading dozens of books. They seem to make her magically happy.

On the Feast of Thomas the Doubter..,

I couldn't wait for the keeper to come home today. ML said she would start today, and the keeper was hopeful....and it happened! Thank you St. Thomas, so much like the rest of humanity, willing to be consigned to disappointment and underwhelm-ment!  Well, from my perch I had the perfect view and watched ml tear out all the detritus from last summer in the yard, clean up the space, and start building the floor of the missing deck. I knew she would be very happy.
