Dinner at Cactus

We understand there is a conference tomorrow. That is why there is so much frantic rushing. Tonight the core team took the guest speaker out to dinner. Because he is from Dallas, meh was all wrapped up like it was winter. But what a wonderful sense of humor and great pastoral presence P. Eduardo is!
We hear that we won't get to meet him, though.

From a Circle of Hell

This morning the keeper headed to Costco and found 100s ahead of her pushing and shoving for all kinds of  junk no one really needs. Thanksgiving is far away as is Christmas, but today the atmosphere was like there were only 20 shopping minutes left.
She told us that in heaven when we are home, as PB preached last eve, there will be no grasping and clawing and standing in line with carts full of junk.
We noticed that her cart was filled with carrots and  apples and cheese sticks!

Your Name Is a Golden Bell Hung in My Heart...

The keeper ended  her incredibly long day of work with the Mass for the Homeless Men and Women who died in shelters or on the street in Seattle---eighty five of them!  P preached well about "home." At the conclusion of the Mass the piper led them out to the courtyard where the names of the deceased were read and as the cathedral bells tolled. Such a powerful moment. But she told use not all the names were read,  and she wished they had taken the timeand trouble  to honor every name.
But she has the list and Peter Beagle's words still apply whether in the courtyard or at our house.

Shopping at Calvary

In our back yard we have Kittyrood.  Lovely plot under the wisteria. We just found out that the keeper will not be able to join us there when her time comes. So, she went out looking for a spot.
She wanted something small, simple and with a water view. Well, she came home happy because she has both water and Mount Rainier! And is right next to two friends!!!! She is not holding an open house there though, at least yet!

Nasturtiums on Steroids

As we surveyed the windstorm damage, we pointed out tot the keeper the nasturtium plants thT gulped a bit too much of the plant food. No flowers, but plate sized leaves!

Post Windy Weekend

Well, half of the leaves came down Saturday. They cloak the disaster which we call our yard. Still, we think its time  to call Jesus to rake and clean, although we had agreed to wait until  the deck was finished. We don't think waiting is very realistic.

Three months later

Tonight the keeper was part of a group feted for assisting with the big wedding this past July.
Toasts, stories, laughter with good friends, Prime Rib, fine wines and other beverages. The bride and groom gave each guest photos of themselves at critical points in the celebration.
