Great Grandmother Anna Clemens

Several months ago the keeper's cousin sent her this photo of her great grandmother, mother of her grandfather Pierre. We suppose that by adoption she is Cecil and my great great grandmother. Pretty cool. This is the only picture of her smiling. Her husband died quite tragically, but she raised five very remarkable children, who achieved wonderful things in their lives.

Tulips

The tulips are also incredibly beautiful right  now.  They almost look like Stargazer Lilies.

The Spider Family

The spider babies are hatching all over. The keeper walked into a web of them this afternoon. But we saved the babies and the web.

More Immigration Conference

She told us the Conference was definitely worth spending the time inside while the sun still struggled to stay with us.

At An Immigration Conference

She eagerly headed out today to a different kind of conference than that of yesterday.
She told us she learned so much good and problematic  about the new immigration reform bill in the Judiciary Committee from dozens of insightful speakers...teachers, union organizers, farmers, farmworkers, lawyers, students, LGBT GROUPS, that she is pumped up to work on it with her people. We are thrilled to hear this because we have heard too many sad stories about the 11 plus million people who are giving much to our communities and who need a just road to citizenship.

Keeping Watch

While the keeper sipped that tall clear drink with ice and lime, we kept watch for the interloper.  I stayed in the front, while Alice hunkered down on the deck. The keeper continued to sigh.

Home Sweet Home

The keeper seemed relieved to come home to us and sit on the front porch sighing and staring at the lavender starting to blossom.  Must have been an intense day. Later she repaired to the deck with that drink with limes in it.
