The Sammimish Latinos invited the keeper and their pastor to a dinner and meeting todiscuss the fruits of the year and plan for the future. So, she left us in the late afternoon and got home near midnight! But first there was the food... she learned how to make empanadas, but hers weren't as artful as those of the main chef. The meeting was astounding in its harvest of projects and ideas. They will go up to the migrant camps every weekend this summer to teach the indigenous adults Spanish and literacy and provide faith formation to the children. They quoted Papa Francisco, "If we keep looking in at ourselves, we will not grow. We must look to the poorest. She came home saying it was a very inspirational night.

Dinner and Meeting in Redmond
The Sammimish Latinos invited the keeper and their pastor to a dinner and meeting todiscuss the fruits of the year and plan for the future. So, she left us in the late afternoon and got home near midnight! But first there was the food... she learned how to make empanadas, but hers weren't as artful as those of the main chef. 50 Years Ago--- June 3rd, 1963
Monday we had a not so solemn commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of John XXIII at the cottage. We were not aware of this, but the keeper was. What did we do? The keeper read some things, including Pope Francisco's comments, contemplated and then planted tomatoes and pansies. We napped in the sun.

In Between Police Calls
While she headed to the lake she took in all of the incredible flora en route. Such a plethora of color and fragrance!
On the Way Home from the Lake
The keeper took a different route home from the lake up over the creek and through a back fence. She was aware that she was following a shadowy figure, and then in the light saw a ski hatted skateboarder, a young man. She followed him for several blocks up the hill and he stayed a block ahead. When she headed up the hill, he continued straight ahead. Suddenly two police cars pulled up and asked her if she had seen a skateboarder. It seems he was running from the law. She pointed out his route, and they sped in pursuit. She came home to us. She mentioned that he didn't seem to know how to ride the skate board. We wonder if he got caught.
On the Way Down to the Lake
The keeper completed her work at SU and came home to us. We got to go outside and play in the sun. She decided to start preparing for Camino Seattle, so she walked down to the north end of the lake. It was an unusual walk, coming and going. As she was heading down the hill, she encountered a pile of fire trucks, police and people. It seems a ninety year old neighbor was backing his car out of the garage and backed it all the way over the 30 foot drop separating the driveway from the street. He knocked out a power pole on his way down. He survived with only shock. The keeper told us to remind her to stop driving before she turned ninety.
