Debate and Flight

We thought we would be able to stay outside but the keeper made us come inside. For debates: two men kind of arguing with each other about the future of the country. The keeper thought the man with the red tie looked into the camera like a movie star more, perhaps too toothy and slick.  The man in the blue tie seemed to think more, but should have looked more deeply into the camera. Meanwhile, Cecil  snuck out at the beginning and hasn't come back yet.  The keeper is a bit nervous, and has already paced the neighborhood with treats, keys, and a flashlight.  We are not too worried yet.

Farewell Celebration

Surprise..nothing new.  The keeper and the guest headed to the Cathedral yet again last evening where the keeper was giving a talk.  She saw friends from Tacoma who had come up, as well as many others. It seemed to go well. They came home later after celebrating. We received treats. Today the guest left to see her brother before heading to Brazil for a big Latin American celebration of Vatican II. They had a long celebratory Italian lunch before waving goodbye.  We liked the guest, except she was sick for most of the time she was visiting, and was not interested in our feline acts of pastoral care.  Maybe next time.

Meeting Baby Emma

After the St. James phenomenon, the keeper headed to the Eastside for another Mass in Spanish. She finally got to meet and hold the new baby Emma who was attending Mass for the first time.  She only got to hold her for 30 seconds because everyone was fighting to hold the baby. Arturo and Brenda are very very happy parents.

Prophet and Twins

After the phenomenal liturgy Sunday, a long queue of parishioners and admirers lined up to greet the Retired Archbishop. But finally Hairy and Tom's keepers intervened because the noon Mass was almost ready to begin.

Prophet and Professor

On Sunday, the keeper and her  distinguished friend headed back to the Cathedral for what we hear was one of the most amazing liturgical experiences ever...one for the history books. The Retired Archbishop was present as they all gathered to celebrate Blessed John XXIII, and bless the new sculpture. The event was electric, inspired, on all levels. The keeper ran out of words to describe it, and we think that is a most amazing event in itself. We heard all about this later Sunday evening when both keeper and guest returned from their respective engagements.

A Most Amazing Weekend

Hello, all.  It's been awhile since you have heard from us. It's not that we have been so busy. In fact we have been quite idle.  But we have been entertaining the keeper's good friend, the globe-trotting professor-theologian, Dr. NPM. She came to stay with us on Saturday and left today. And the keeper kept her busy going to events while we waited for them to come back. On Saturday, they headed to the Cathedral for a party and the unveiling of a new statue of Blessed John XXIII. We heard all about it when the two partyers came home. We understand that it is an amazing piece of art, and that Hairy's and Tom's keepers had quite a bit to do with it as well.  We probably will never see it ourselves.  We have to trust her word and her photos.
