Grey and dappled and bright

Last night's 10,000 step camino
captured some overlooked flora in the hood.

Cottage Farming

Shout out to Michael Garrison for putting us on to
the felt buckets for growing vegies and more.
The tomato are already booming
and the basil is even happy.

This year we also added wooden planter boxes on the deck for herbs
and mezclun.

Croatian Take Out

.
We ate early.  She left us for downtown Bellevue
and a small circle of friends.
They were celebrating the miraculous recovery of George
who has the lives of at least 4 cats.

The restaurant where there reservations awaited had
to close because of a fire last night.
SO, they wee going to to a Croatian place,
but were having such a relaxed time at the condo they decided to
order in off the menu and eat family style.
Pachogas, Greek shrimp, and much more.
Wonderful night, she said.

Basta Ya!

We ate late. We didn't mind.
We understand she was marching and praying
for an end to the evil, unconscionably cruel separation
of parents from children at the southern borders.
And not only that --they way those fleeing violence and threats to their lives are being turned back or placed in detention.

Great preaching and praying.
Best line of the night,  !Basta ya!

Evening Came and We Stayed In

She got to stay outside and watch the moonrise and have dinner on the deck.
we had to come in because the raccoons came out.
They are just children and our size.
She keeps saying there is a mother out there who is much bigger.

Make it Cooler!

Tonight we begged for more fans and ice.
We would have even let her shave all of our fur off.
Lucy had to go to the vet to get stitches
on her neck because her cyst ruptured.
TMI.
But she did get her neck shaved and she lost 12 ounces!
All those pirouettes with Da Bird are paying off!

On the Eve of the World Day of Refugees

“A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping
It is the sound of Rachel weeping for her children"  Jer 31:15

These days it is important to remember those
who reflected on the role we can play in this world.

At the Ministries Dinner

This year's ministries dinner featured delicious Korean food--wraps, with kim chi and pickled watermelon rinds.  People took  not just seconds but thirds and fourths!
A delicious way to step out of the box!

The New Front Yard Bench

We snuck outside  and tried to distract her as she
assembled the bench.had tools
The instruction sheet said maximum 30 minutes for assembly.
Two hours later she was still at it.
Miraculously, Jesus showed up to clean the yard
and had the right tools to tighten the bolts.
And it was ready before the rains came.

That's one reason we trust in Jesus!
.

The front yard is looking pretty fine,
rain or shine,

day or night.

At a Great Graduation

Tonight we ate late again.
She went to a college graduation for a young woman who is so brilliant and wise.
She was valedictorian of her class this year.
It was the first 4 year BA graduating class in Behavioral
Science.

In her valedictory speech she thanked
her family and her mother and her mentors.

She was celebrated as part of a college honor society.
When it was time for diplomas and medals, she brought her mom to the stage with her.

What an inspiring night!
