At the Wyeth Exhibit
Q: What do good Catholic people do after funerals?
A: Some of them go to the art museum.
The keeper went to the Andrew Wyeth exhibit at the SAM with Suzy,
We hear it is worth seeing more than once, even with the crowds.
Here's a sampling-not their real titles:
The Thieving Lobsterman
The Shed--secret hideaway

A Quiet Feast of Stephen
Lucy and I are trying to get used to her being home so much.
And she is reading a lot. So there is a lap.
She did leave us to spend time at the Carmel.
And walked through the South Woods as they shed their snow.
She came home bearing fragrance of cedar and moss and water.

Christmas Camino
We didn't take her up on the invite to play in the snow.
So she went walking down to the lake.
The side roads are still a little slick.
The lake is cast in silver.
White Christmas
We are having a solitary Christmas like monks.
St. Francis is begging us to come out to play.
The snow beckons us.
And summer still clings to a few branches!
Christmas Vigil
We ate early.
She went to help greet and get a good seat at the vigil Mass.
It started snowing when she got there.
It looked pretty. It kept snowing.
She helped greet people as they came in the front door.
The children were lining up for the procession.
So were Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds.
Christmas Eve Dinner and Gifts
She didn't come home after Mass.
We thought it was because of the snow.
But she went very slowly down Madison and Montlake
to her friends for their annual
Christmas eve dinner and gift unwrapping.
Carol sets a beautiful table.
and they enjoyed Jack Harvey's lasagne.
She also came home smelling of Theo, the new dog
who is smaller than either of us.

Oh Light of Nations, Come!
We lit our foutth candle tonight. One of the paperwhites is ready to bloom.
The others are a little pokier. They clearly believe that Christmas is a 12 day feast.
The fourth week of Advent only lasts 24 hours this year.
The moon rose as the sun set.
Winter Caminata I
Today she left us for a 5 mile caminata.
It was a perfect day for it.
The mountain made a hazy appearance.
The Cascades did a little better.
The lake was at low tide.
And the ducks didn't seem to mind the near freezing, rushing, Lyon Creek.
