Blue Carpers

The view form the deck was in sync with the Seahawks.
I pointed this out to her.
The noisiest part of our afternoon was the carping of the bluejays
who were miffed that the suet in the feeders had been stolen by the squirrels.

Taking the Sun

This afternoon, she caught up on the news sitting in the sun
and I napped in the shade of the umbrella.
It was lovely.

Repas du Samedi Soir

The keeper decided to do a little Julia Child tonight.
So, we had chicken dijonaise and leeks a la vinaigrette.
I decided to pose for the selfie.

After it was all over, the kitchen looked well used for a change.

Root Canal Chapter 2

The keeper threw my food at me and rushed out to arrive in time for her root canal.
This was the view from her chair for 2 hours.
She found out her tooth had four roots.

Really 29!

K works across the hall from the keeper.
She turns 29 for real tomorrow and her office mates prepared a pretty crafty cake for her.
Happy Bday K!

Retreat Pickup

The keeper left me this morning for a retreat she was helping lead.
Here she is preparing to come home to me. Mary gave them a ride up the hill to the parking lot.
She hadn't ridden in the back of a pickup for 50 years, probably.

Last Summer Satuurday

The trees in front of the Frye captured the liminality of these days of seasonal transition.

A Short Visit to the Frye

She had to read at the cathedral tonight, so she left here
early, assuring me she would be home for dinner.
She wanted to spend a little time at the exhibit Chronicles of Solitude
which displayed the the work of Vilhem Hammershoi, a Danish artist.

There weren't too many works there, but she liked the way he played with light, his homes, and how he included his wife.  It was a strangely restful exhibit which not only matched the color of her fingernails, but the quality of this last summer Saturday.

Windy Wet Market Day

She came home with her bounty of flowers from the market this morning.
Not too many people, but rain and wind in abundance.

More Luna Bella

Tonight the last summer moon was beautiful rising over First Hill

and it rose  dramatically  here.

Moonwatching

Tonight we sat on the deck together and watched the moon rise over the lake.
It was a stunning sight.

Leschi Lunch

I understand it was a beautiful day outside.
I wouldn't know since I was locked up while she went to her office
and then to lunch with some co workers. But I understand
that she used to spend a lot of time down
there when she lived very close to Leschi.
I can see why she likes it.

The Trainable Cat????

The keeper heard an interview on NPR with the author of this book.
The author thinks she has us figured out.
The good news is that now I am receiving treats much more quickly once I obey the command.
She has no idea what a trainable keeper she is.

What We Did This Afternoon

She brought out her books, some water and the tunes.
I joined her and dreamt wildly while she read.
I think she is preparing some talks because
some of them looked big and churchy.
Some didn't, though.

Back to the Caminata

This afternoon she left me on the deck in my chair and power walked down to the lake.
The fall flowers are starting to bloom.

And the mountain was wearing a beret.
Or a hairpiece!

Getting to the Root of the Issue

All week long, actually for  three weeks long, she has been nursing a molar which has been very painful. Her dentists have been very cautious in determining the best treatment.
Well, yesterday it happened.  They worked on her for two hours, and she came home bearing pills and a bruised mouth.
I commiserated with her because I have a few bad teeth but won't let anyone touch them.
I hear they will anesthetize me just to look at them. No way.

She started to perk up today, though, and got back to her more energetic activities.
Let's hear it for modern chemistry!

Sunday Caminata

This afternoon the sun came out and so I took a nap on the deck and the keeper took a nice long walk down to Lyon Creek Park. She tells me that the photos do not do justice to the beauty she observed.
I told her to get a new IPhone.

The house with the fabulous garden now has red berried bushes guarding its sweet brick walkway through the trellis.

Lyon Creek was running a little faster after the day of rain.

The mountain wasn't visible, and there were few still out looking.
But the Lake was serene.

Our Bouquet of Sun on a Grey Day

This morning the keeper left early for the Shoreline Farmers Marker.
It was a grey, cold day, and she couldn't wait til Sunday for her sunflowers.
Last week's fizzled way too early. You can see our bouquet being put together.

The Flowers are Happy

Rain. Gray. Clouds. Damp.
We have some friends who love this weather.
As for the keeper and I, we choose the sun, blue sky, soft breeze and dry air.
However, the plants and the flowers at the cottage all seemed quite dontent today and lifted their weary little faces to the rain with bright gratitude.

Perhaps this will be an indoor weekend. Sigh.
Thank God we took the cloth swing chairs in several days ago.
