Oscar Night

I was fed and then she left me to go hang out and watch a big lightbox with friends. They were guessing who was going to be getting some little gold statues.  She left early to grade papers, but
was thrilled to know her prediction for best actor and actress was right on.
I predict  that we will be watching lots of these films from Netflix this year.

Guess Where She Was Tonight?

Well, one of her Paris companions sent this proof of her whereabouts tonight.
Something about building a field hospital at the borders.
Thanks, Bow-woman, for keeping me informed.
She finally got home, and I had my Chicken Pate.

Remembering Dear Lord Cecil

Today is not the actual calendar anniversary of his death, but Lord Cecil died last year on Ash Wednesday.
We remember that sad day but most of all  we remember what  a loving friend he was to both of us.

The Season of Bright Sadness

And so it goes, ashes ashes, we all fall down. I ate late again. She came home with a smudge on her forehead and her nose. I think the nose was an accident. But it is all very symbolic about facing what steals life from us and others and letting go of what impedes the Spirit and new life. I heard her say that she was fasting from several things and more. I am exempt, however. Rah!

Seattle in Black and White

She didn't come home til late last eve. Something about a presentation about a book and one of her projects.  So I ate very late and howled even when she told me to stop.

The presentation dealt with the civil rights movement in Seattle and she told me that the four women who wrote the book and presented the story were very inspirational. They talked about racism then which was more blatant then. Now it is more insidious and built into the structures of things.

She was also very happy that people could meet another very inspirational woman who is leading the way 50 plus years later! And the keeper gets to work with her.

The Caminata

Sigh.

Lyon's Creek was full of ducks who wouldn't pose.

Lyon's Creek Park at the north tip of the Lake.
Everyone was out on roller blades, scooters, bikes, trikes, razor scooters, feet, paws, wings, babypacks, strollers, leashes.

Flora

Post carwash she locked the car in the garage and put on her exercise clothes and walked to the north end of the lake. The flowers have been very busy these past weeks.

Brown Bear Gallery

Today on her way home from St. James she pulled into Brown Bear Car Wash along with 1/2 of North Seattle.  But she waited more patiently than usual, this being a three day weekend of sorts.
And we are sure the morning's religious experience helped her wait patiently, but once she got the left front tire in the in the slot, she sat back and watched the show through her windshield and sunroof while she listened to Mahler's Fifth! So this is what she liked the best.

Letting Her Know my Feelings

When she got home tonight, I really didn't greet her. On purpose.
Instead I went out and sat on the deck under the new motion sensor lights. I said quite a few things. She lured me in with a sample cat food in a foil packet. It was good. Maybe she will feel guilty for a few more days. I could do well.

Such Sweetness!

The daphne is climbing over the railing and we are not complaining.

9 am Dumas Bay

The keeper has been doing her professor thing and so she left me at home overnight to do this.
Yes, I did have a cat nanny, and I was well behaved. she said that this was the view from the classroom.  The students were all facing the view and her. I guess they didn't let the view get in the way of their focus on her.

Upstart Spring

They are coming back.  All of that upstart spring  we planted in October!
All of that resurrection we plotted under the trees!

Across from REI

On her way into the event this morning she passed a very long line of people waiting to get into REI.
She doubts that any of them passed the long wait time by making a visit to the tent city across the street under the freeway.  There could have been some interesting conversations between those tent campers and the tent shoppers as they visited some of King County's 3772 homeless people.

Liturgy Morning

She barely got home from last night's function, and was out again this morning for an event at the cathedral about Liturgy. She got locked out so missed part of the talk on the ten temptations of Liturgical ministers. But she caught up and spent many minutes debating the finer points of reader choreography with her  reader friends.

Thanks, Peg!

I dined fashionably late tonight. Well, that's what she said. I say I was fed very late tonight because she ate someplace else much earlier than usual. It was that Fulcrum dinner where they chatted with hundreds of acquaintances, ate some strange food and listened to talks, and then promised money.  But this year the keeper was pleased to see the main honoree who had been her teacher in a class she had decided to take at the last moment in a different school within the university when nothing else looked good. It was a wonderful class and the professor was the dean and wonderful as well, and they became fansof each other.

Rain Blossoms

There is a church across the street from the keeper's office building. it is a pretty plain church, although it plays recorded Christmas tunes anytime people walk by during December and has a permanent creche scene stashed behind some bushes, and a portable basketball hoop which seems the best thing of all for the neighbor kids. But for the keeper the sight of a cherry tree in bloom on a break in a very rainy day was the most welcoming sign of all.  Hope!

I Had to Wear a Bow Today

She got the idea this morning from Joseph Adam who was wearing a bow tie.
You may ask, did she wear a bow?  Of course not! Did I watch the game?  She bribed me and asked me to keep her posted while she read and cleaned the kitchen.  I am still watching.  It will end soon. I told her she should at least watch the last minutes.
